Top-down, dysfunctional

Pros

Resources are available to make a difference in the market.

Cons

Decisions at Corporate are all made at the Exec level. Upper-and middle-management are just executing. Makes for an incredibly slow-to-market business and a difficult place for experienced employees, who leave for greener pastures.

Pros

I work at Best Western Corporate in Phoenix, AZ. Management is really invested in your growth here. In my department we are a close group and from the top down it feels like the managers take more time to make sure you have all the resources you need to succeed than most companies I have worked for. They are open to new ideas or trying new things as long as it will improve the overall business. As an employee here I feel valued and enjoy coming to work on a daily basis. Travel - In my job I get the opportunity to travel and meet with our hotels. This is a rewarding experience as well because the corporate staff and the hotel members share the same goals and values.

Cons

Occasionally it can be unclear what some teams short term goals are. You may be working on one thing and then be told to switch to another. It can be frustrating at times but it's never boring.

Best Western Corporate Review of Reviews

Pros

The reviews are right on even as you go back through the years. At one time it was a great place to work. Started its downhill slide in 2004. As stated the 401K is good.

Cons

What is mentioned in most of the reviews, appears to be happening in all departments. Cronisim, finger pointing, bus tracks on your body. You are a 'teachers pet' or a moron. How can you work in the hospitality industry and keep those who bully their peers, subordinates, or actively manipulate others to get people fired. These bullies are then protected by their supervisors and managers. This culture is encouraged by upper management. The positive reviews on here were actually created by people in management. Look at their titles. The healthcare is expensive.
