Pros

-Great people below leadership, the people you work with are great.

Cons

-Leadership is very top down, they like to control every aspect of the business -There is no framework for career growth, you can ask your supervisor but when they are not empowered to help you things don't progress. -Compensation is among the worst in Utah valley/Industry. Know that you can be paid more just about anywhere. -Feedback is not listened to at a higher level. ESAT meetings were held by leadership and it just resulted in them yelling at employees and calling the employees "children". -Too few actual workers at the company, it feels like there are 2 leaders for every 1 worker at the company which equates to so many chefs in the kitchen and very few actually cooking. -No bonuses and benefits are drying up quickly. Overstock.com use to be a great place to work at with onsite medical services and a great campus with activities. There is now none of this. -No culture - the only culture the company has is stress and overworking, there hasn't been a company party in years.

Pros

Good benefits, good remote work opportunities.

Cons

Beyond is key word. As in beyond toxic. Upper management has not had employee trust in years. Instead they foster a toxic environment where you live in constant fear of being written up, or as management puts it “coached up or coached out”. This place doesn’t understand or appreciate the hard work and stress involved for any non-salary employee. They solicit “feedback” under the pretense of challenge the idea not the person. However this is a flat out flagrant lie. If you get suckered into providing feedback, you get called out openly in meetings where this feedback is dissected and you are openly humiliated, mocked and it is heavily implied you are somehow incompetent. The axiom hard work pays off isn’t acknowledged here at all. Raises, bonuses and promotions are lopsided, inadequate and given to those who are not qualified other than being popular or someone’s favorite. There have been repeated complaints about this in the employee reviews but it’s never spoken of or addressed. If you so much as dare to bring up cost of living or being paid fairly, the senior director will belittle you and openly scoff at you. She will then provide a long winded explanation that this company pays competitively. Rest assured it does not. The only reason entry level agent oh was raised to $15/hr was due to the fact the company got in hot water with Washington state and had to open a facility there where minimum wage is $15/hr. In my position I am literally cents above minimum industry standard for pay, and that didn’t happen until a few years ago. Given my experience in retail, management and leadership I stand head and shoulders above others and yet get paid far less. Were it not for the simple fact I need money to pay bills I’d have quit long ago. The moment I get hired on elsewhere is the moment I quit this hell hole with zero notice.

Pros

There's always been a contagious friendliness, and most of the departments want the other departments to succeed.

Cons

Over the years the culture has splintered. So many layoffs over the years has left caring for many departments and ecommerce needs lacking. Good for Overstock for running on bare bones, but after so many shortcuts, it's hard to care about the quality of projects.
