Pros

It's close to home, nice atmosphere, not many cubicles where I work. Ummm... the vending machines are nice. There is a water fountani and a river out back.

Cons

If you speak up, you will pay for it. The pay sucks compared to other companies of the same size, location, etc. If you want to be promoted, you'd better make sure it comes with more pay, because if you don't, you won't get more pay. They play like they like you, but that's only because you're a "butt" in a seat. One senior Vp who has a stormy name makes a habit of firing people in front of others to make an example of them. She even wanted one employee's parents present at her firing. Are you kidding me?

Pros

The Irish office is brilliant. Full of nice people and the facilities are perfect. The culture in the office is wonderful, with work-life balance being very important to all levels of staff.

Cons

The salary is not great. It's ok for the West of Ireland, but with remote working available to most, it just cannot compete with companies in Dublin, Galway or Limerick. They could try and compete, but the US office does not supply sufficient funding to the Irish office to do so. The old CEO loved the Irish office and although he had some questionable ideas, he would have this office thrive right now if he was still in charge. The current CEO took over and would probably close the Irish office down today if he could. He does not care for the Irish office - it's just something at the back of his mind. In his 3 or 4 years in charge, he still has not even bothered travelling over from Utah to visit the 70-90 staff members. The Irish office is neglected and all of the benefits of the amazing office and staff has come from the work of the Irish employees and the previous team in the US before Jonathan Johnson took charge. He is not responsible for anything worth talking about.

Pros

The work life balance is great and the pay is decent. Very few teams work more than 40 hours a week. Schedules are very flexible and the time of day you show up for work is basically left to your own discretion. If a project date is slipping almost always project features get cut or the date gets extended with overtime very rarely considered a recovery option. Recent changes are providing opportunity for advancement and existing employees are being considered first for those positions.

Cons

Their non-compete agreement is ridiculous. Get a copy of it before you entertain an offer. Team leads are given the late night on call responsibilities. Nepotism and cronyism in the company is rampant. Despite management saying they hate politics, politics are prevalent, nurtured, and only growing in importance. A sideways look, a word thought to be disrespectful, or bringing up concerns about the group think strategy of the day are quite literally fireable offenses. Critical thinking and good project execution seem a distant second to getting along. Accountability appears to flow only one way. The practice of hiring from within and cronyism has led to several in positions of authority who from my perspective perform their responsibilities poorly and are unlikely to leave since neither their experience nor aimless performance is likely to qualify them for comparable position and pay in other companies.
