Pros
My only pro was the team that I worked with was great and did their best to be available especially when we were newly remote due to the pandemic. The managers that I directly reported to were good leaders, micro manage-y at times, but overall I enjoyed working with them. There were great individuals across all teams that I worked with, which made working cross functionally enjoyable.
Cons
Overall my biggest issue with the company is the lack of growth and development opportunities for employees. The company is set up so you start on their support team and work your way up. They are very proud of this model and see it as a way to help people grow. (It’s also a great way to not pay people what they’re worth as they move up in the company, but that’s a conversation for another time.) While this may be a great opportunity for someone fresh out of college, they have little to no training for those who are hired externally. Trainings that did exist for customer facing roles like mine, were meant for clients and were passed off as trainings that could apply for employees too, making the on boarding process twice as long as it should be. The development trainings that they do have, are specific to Billhighway. After only a few months of employment, it became clear to me that the few skills I had obtained at this company would not apply anywhere else.
