Pros

Some of the BPM's are great to learn from but they are being overworked.

Cons

The rest is Hype. Overworked, underpaid, bonus and raises are not as promised. There is a mass exodus because of the the broken promises. They allow and encourage favoritism and bullying. The "build out" is a joke. Educated, professionals in a kindergarten desk. Grown men, 6'' + are sitting with their knees around their necks. The lay out is so wrong. samples have to be brought through the office areas. To the last review. Yes there were lay-offs. I am sad for the founders because they really did have a great dream. Don't be fooled, they could not care less about an employee, it's just another gear to them and you can all be replaced.

Pros

-Job security: This company hasn't had any layoffs in it's 10 years of existence and the nature of the work we do here means that it's relatively safe from market fluctuations. -The healthcare plan is amazing. I almost wish I had a chronic illness so I could get the most out of my plan. -The building is mostly redone and modernized. Overhead LED lights and new cubicles and lab space keep the place looking bright and clean. -The company is still small enough that the CEO knows everyone by name. It is refreshing to be able to talk to any level of upper management even if you just have a quick comment. -Food. 25 cent vending machine and cans of soda. Free fruits and random leftovers from client visits. Monthly happy hours with food and drinks. I could go on a serious diet by simply not eating the bounty provided to me at work. -Quarterly Bonuses. Although it's not much: the quarterly bonuses give you a little something to spend throughout the year.

Cons

-Some negative people. People love to talk about how much better their old job was and how much of a paycut they took when they accepted this job... these people are forgetting that their last job laid them off and they were out of work for months so going from making nothing to something is not really a paycut... It's like talking to your spouse (who still loved you at rock bottom) about how much more amazing your high school crush was despite the fact that they dumped you the night before prom. -Growing pains. I'm sure all companies have gone through the same thing but growing from a small to medium company is not fun. Small companies feel like family. Large companies have lots of resources and programs. The place in the middle loses the family feel without yet developing corporate retreats, tuition reimbursement, ergonomic audits, or things of that nature. -The lab work is not a streamlined. An analyst running samples must find samples in a database, find them in the freezer, remove them from the freezer, remove them from the database, reorganize them, use them, return them to freezer in the original order, replace them in the database and carry out the rest of the days labwork. Samples are the real moneymakers in this industry so revising this process would not go unnoticed in the accounting department. -There are people with 20 years of experience that perform daily tasks that could be accomplished by a highschool intern after a 15 minute explanation. According to the website, “The BioAgilytix team averages 15+ years of post-schooling bench experience”. This looks great to clients but entry-level positions go a long way in making a workplace run smoothly and let the people with experience feel challenged.

Pros

Subsidized Snacks. I'm not even joking, the company pays for snacks. It's amazing. I will warn you, if you like bananas make sure you grab them early in the morning. There's a few guys that eat all the bananas right away. The poor receptionist can barely keep up with their ravenous appetite for bananas. I'm an apple guy and there's usually always some Granny Smith's there for me. Great Co-workers. The people here are amazing! Most of the managers are great people that understand the plight of us lowly lab rats. Seriously, they really understand how things work in a lab, and aren't completely removed from experiments. I've made some great friends here, too. If you ever get a chance, step outside, where you’ll see some people vaping at the corner of the building. Even though I don't partake in the vape, it's kind of a social hot spot. I've made some great friends at BioAgilytix, and it's nice because we've stayed in touch after they quit... and they will quit. Intellectually Stimulating Projects. We work on some really cool stuff here. It's a great resume builder. If you decide to work here, make sure you build your resume. You'll need to.

Cons

DO NOT listen to them about the bonuses. You're promised 10% interviewing, but that never happens. Let's talk about "merit" based pay increases you should be getting every year. I'm not really sure what the executive team was thinking about this year’s pay increases. You'd think they'd correlate with performance reviews, but they didn't. Tons of people that got outstanding or exceeds (the top two performance categories) got minimal pay increases, whereas people that got marginal reviews, and people that were on performance reviews because of their poor performance got large pay increases. Let's just say that caused some tension in the lab... Do you like taking on more responsibility for no money? That's the BioAgilytix way! Promotions at BioAgilytix are when you give someone a new title, and a lot more responsibilities but NO monetary increase other than their tiny merit increase. More than a few people are a little salty about their new positions. The executive team has been getting hostile lately. We recently renovated the building. They didn't really think about the flow of the lab when renovating so you have to walk through the main lobby if you need to get between the labs. We were told it was ok for us to walk samples through the lobby, since it's the ONLY way to move samples. Well the other day, I overheard someone from HR telling the receptionist to keep track of people who brought samples into the lobby because he was going to get us in trouble. Another example would be the Christmas party that never was... The morale in the company was so low that pretty much everyone declined to go to the scheduled Christmas party out of spite, and the party was canceled. Now, we're getting barrages of e-mail from one of the grumpy secretaries about "employee engagement activities". Basically the executive team want us to show up for events outside of work hours while not getting paid. Even though they're voluntary, if we don't respond or we don't attend, we'll get rude e-mail from said secretary. Also, when the exec team sees truthful reviews on Glassdoor, they go on a hunt to find out who did it. Spoiler alert: They're not looking for advice on how to fix morale. As I said before, you meet a lot of cool people here, but don't expect them to hang around for a while. No one is on Facebook while on the job, because pretty much everyone is scheduling interviews or on job search websites trying to find a way out. It's heartbreaking.
