Pros

Great benefits and overall compensation (especially . Nice work environment (offices, cafe, etc.) but there are some buildings that are very dated (depressing cube environment).

Cons

Has become a typical BIG PHARMA corporation. Bureaucratic, top heavy (there seem to be a lot of VPs), the culture is very insular, senior management seems very self interested. No work/life balance - expectations are high if you want to succeed (HR person emphasized this "...since we are a premium employer"). Stability is gone - major layoffs in 2011 and 2015 (localized layoff in R&D in 2014).

Pros

Great pay and benefits for the field. The company has successfully brought products to market and as a result has excellent resources.

Cons

Non-PhDs didn't have a clear career path in my group. Few of the directors or VPs I interacted with showed interest in developing the talent within the company

Pros

This company has benefits out of this world!!! I have never seen a company whose benefits even come close. The pay is good too, but you deserve much, much more due to the crazy amount of work you have to do.

Cons

I recently started and accepted this position based on the lies of a recruiter. I had a very specific schedule request due to the care availability for my child and I made this known to the recruiter offering me the position. She told me not to worry and to just bring this to the attention of the trainer when I started. When I did that, I was told that they could not accommodate my request and I'd have to work the late shift (11-8). Had I known this from the beginning, I would have NEVER accepted the position because I knew that I would not be able to work that shift with my daycare situation. They did not try to work with me AT ALL and I feel forced out of the position because of it. How can the temp staff easily get early shifts but not the permanent staff? There is also a great deal of negativity on the floor from the veteran reps because Biogen hires both temps and regular employees. A lot of the veterans have been temps for years and they are upset when someone like me has been hired straight into the company. They are rude and don't create the environment of inclusiveness that Biogen always speaks of. Biogen also speaks of "Caring Deeply", but that must only apply to the patients they want to start their therapy and not the employees. It is very disheartening to have been lied to because I turned down other opportunities to work at Biogen and now I am right back at square one. One last thing...I think that it is very sad that every response to a patient/healthcare provider is SCRIPTED!!! There is no conversation, empathy, or sympathy allowed because it will lead to having to report adverse events. I can't even believe the amount of READING this position has to do. Nothing sounds natural. You can't even ask them how they are doing. If I were the patient calling in, I would hang up because the amount that has to be read is over and above what they want/need to hear & will not always answer the questions asked. They want robots and not truly compassionate people. It is weird not being able to genuinely show care/concern for the patients battling these incurable diseases. It is very sad.
