      Pros

      The people are fantastic - there is a nice sense of belonging and that we are making a difference in peoples' lives.

      Cons

      Long hours - you have to put the time and effort re: the employees at all levels are highly ambitious, motivated and the pace is fast.

      Pros

      Biogen Idec is a great company that really looks out for its employees. The employees themselves are talented, inquisitive, and understand the importance of knowledge sharing. The benefits are absolutely amazing and there is a real sense of the need for work-life balance. There is a beer hour every Friday that allows employees to meet outside of work. I would recommend a career at Biogen Idec to anyone.

      Cons

      Because of the growing business, there are many new people, so it can be hard to get the background behind an issue that occurred a while before. It is also in downtown Cambridge, so commutes can be difficult.

      Cutting edge science. Generally high caliber colleagues.

      Cons

      Very unstable working environment. High turnover. Not enough focus and support for R&D. The chaos has a very severe affect on R&D productivity.
