Pros

I must admit that I honestly cannot come up with a positive thing to say about the company, except the guys actually doing the work are a nice, smart group who are being taken advantage of.

Cons

As I said there is nothing positive about this company, but there are plenty of negatives. To begin with as others have mentioned there is the excessive overtime, and what does this point to, poor management. Another drawback is the fact that they do not keep up with technology, why are you still developing winforms with VB in framework 2.0? Also there is the in fighting between the groups, again poor management. The pay is not that great either, most workers are right out of college, get there two years experience and then leave. The managers seem to want to manage by intimidation, rather than using leadership.

Pros

The job has an above average pay scale. The employees are also very nice. Work environment is pretty good.

Cons

I think this company is loosing it’s edge. The concepts that it started with still seem to hold up, in that cutting edge technology is happening. However, there seems to be a shortage of people who know what’s going on. There is a lot of burn out happening and a general feeling of apathy within the staff. There are good folks who have been there a long time, but it’s really hard to be a new employee there. No one wants to take the time to explain what’s happening inside the doors. There is also a sense that everyone is overworked and unhappy with what they’re doing. It’s also not a family friendly environment at all. In terms of money and steady work, it hold up. As far as somewhere to build a career, I feel it’s heyday is behind it.

Pros

- I worked with some great people and miss my team of developers. - Employees are paid hourly and thus are eligible for paid over-time (this is a double edged sword), more on that later. - As a software developer, you gain a lot of experience with many different technologies (also a double edged sword).

Cons

- First, foremost, and the reason I left, employees are worked to the bone. Anything other than overtime is a joke, don't make plans for the weekend, and certainly don't get excited about holiday's resulting in a 3+ day weekend, you will be working. You will be paid overtime, but you will be working. Sure, the overtime pay is nice, but it gets OLD. Work/Life balance? What is life? - Second, most hard overtime is not forecast, rather, employees are notified last minute that mundane overtime needs to be worked for a job that can be completed during normal business hours. There were plenty of times where I worked an entire weekend while being told the job HAD to be completed by Monday, only to be told on Monday that we're delivering in another week, month, etc... - Third, management will look down on you and speak to you condescendingly if you try to manage your day to day life, especially in the shadow of looming overtime. Again, Work/Life ratio? Work comes first and you should know better than to deal with personal life situations. -Ultimately, overtime is the big CON. If I were salaried and working under these conditions, I would have left much sooner.
