      Management Nightmare

      Pros

      It's a big company which usually lends to better benefits and career opportunities.

      Cons

      Management is out of control - they forced back to back major reorganizations (for seemingly no reason), senior management changes every few weeks, and the whole company feels chaotic trying to keep up with all of the changes. There's been a lot of turnover, and our department was already woefully understaffed and overworked. The company offers 9/80 schedules, but I rarely get to take my day off because of meetings and workload. HR and Management only respond to your concerns with pandering, pre-approved messages - "We know change is hard, but we think this is for the best. Thank you for sharing your concerns. Go Black & Veatch!" The responses from the company on this website alone are sickening and honestly offensive. A lot of the company has only ever worked at B&V so I would take their reviews with a grain of salt unless you're a college student who plans to go that same route. I had 10+ years of experience before coming to this company which makes it difficult to look past a lot of the company's inefficiencies and "Old Boys'Club" mentality.

Go Black & Veatch!", we won't say it to you since you've noted that those words offended you and made you sick. That was never our intention and it saddens us that you personally feel that way. What we'd love to do is talk to you one-on-one and see what can be done in your department specifically to make this a better environment for you. But without any details as to your identity or which department you work in, we can only encourage you to speak directly to your manager or HR representative as soon as possible. Lastly, 9/80 days are one of those "better benefits" you mention and you deserve to have them!

      Some of the best people I’ve ever worked with.

      Cons

      Loved my team and most of HR, except for when management wouldn’t stand up and express their concern for their employees to the higher ups. How can you be surprised when great employees leave when you act like changes aren’t really that big a deal when your employees expressed the exact opposite. When you show NO empathy for your employees and just tell them it’s happening and to get over it. Are you really that surprised when all of these bad reviews continue to be posted? Come on, man. When you blatantly lie to your employees and provide no data to back up your decision. Come on, man. There are a lot of really smart people at BV, did you really think you could gaslight all of them? When you refuse to be flexible for the majority of your experienced professionals and cater to most new professionals. Come on, man.

      Pros

      Good pay, good benefits, good people.

      Cons

      Not being able to work from home as we were previously promised. I have restructured my life to work from home and it has been great. I have a better work life balance, I get more done, my family is happier, we are less-stressed, and there is more comfort surrounding my medical condition. I guess it was too good to be true; now we go back to just being a normal company. We were bait-and-switched and so now I cannot believe anything that upper management says. Will any promises stick? Not sure.
