Pros

The talent level and commitment of the long time employees is truly something special.

Cons

New leadership within the BOD, CEO, and Business Presidents have come in from outside of B&V and are quickly destroying a once proud culture. Decided to have two major re-organizations within 12 months.

Unfair policy changes

Pros

Flexibility used to be a pro. Employee owner.

Cons

Remote positions are no longer available. The new ceo has decided all employees must come into the office three days a week. In may, employees were given the opportunity to remain remote permanently. The company even said there has been no change in productivity when working from home and that remote working has been a long term plan for BV. This decision is out of the blue and makes zero logic. No flexibility with the new change either.

Flexibility is at the heart of a Hybrid model. And it's at the heart of how we've always worked at Black & Veatch. Our Hybrid model offers professionals the ability to work from home/virtually 2 days a week. Employee-owners in the field will remain virtual. And for those with special circumstances, we will do our best to find the right solution. We know this is a change, but our goal is to help make the transition as easy as possible.

Pros

Black & Veatch has added an additional week of vacation starting at 3 weeks for incoming employees, while offering a 9/80 schedule.

Cons

The new CEO and executive leadership have completely done a 180 within the direction of the company by instituting a return to office plan, which back tracks on their "Work in New Ways" work profile, which offered the following profiles: Resident, Flex (Work 2 days in office, Work 3 days at home), Mobile and Virtual. The mobile work profile has been eliminated with no transparency, communication, or coordination to adapt to this change. There has not been any transparency of any metric to support their decision to backtrack on our current work profiles. The reasoning for this change was to force people to be in the office to build our culture. There appears to be a huge disconnect between executive leadership and the rest of the employees.

Our ASPiRE principles remain the guiding force of our culture and connect us wherever in the world we sit. As a global company we always have and always will work virtually and need to continually adapt to stay ahead of technology, trends and client needs. The hybrid model is part of this adaptation - and a decision grounded in an effort to find better ways to collaborate.
