New CEO destroyed trust

Pros

Nice people to work with

Cons

Pay is average comparing to other companies (Burns & Mac, JE Dunn). CEO has been at the companies less than 3 years and a whole host of executives (around 8 or 9) have left. The CEO said he would like the company to stop talking about diversity because he is diversity (when asked at townhall). You can pretty much imagine the demographic of leadership. When he was onboarding to become the new CEO, he was asked about Remote work policy and answered that he didn't plan on changing it. That turned out to be a lie once he's settled in his office and new role. That aside, the whole "initiative" was poorly communicated and executed. He was not willing to host any townhall or Q&A to address concerns. Everything nowadays is very much "do as I say because I am the CEO". Try the other aforementioned companies.

Deceptive Leadership

Pros

Knowledgable people. Work isn't intense. Stable environment.

Cons

The new CEO continuously touted working from home as a benefit separating BV from its competitors. We hired people with the lure of working remotely. Now he's forcing everyone to return to the office 3 days a week even though 90% of BV employees want to remain virtual. With the new reorganization, the sales teams are abandoning smaller divisions in favor of larger divisions. Therefore, there is no longer a steady stream of long billable projects to work on unless you're in a big division. Finally, BV recently forced everyone to purchase BV stock as their 401k contributions as opposed to investing in other funds. You are forced to be an owner.

We know this is a change, but our goal is to help make the transition as easy as possible. Our Hybrid model offers professionals the ability to work from home/virtually 2 days a week. Employees in the field will remain virtual. And for those with special circumstances, we will do our best to find the right solution. Everyone will not return to the office 3 days a week beginning in January, as we are taking a tiered approach for many professionals so they have time to prepare for this transition over the next few months.

Pros

Good opportunity, benefits, pay. Working from home was the best benefit and we’ve had a record year in 2022. People are great.

Cons

Lost faith in decision making of leadership and CEO. With little feedback, the decision to completely change our business model to working in the office and reorganize, again, was made after a record year. Furthermore, the recent change is causing clear hardship with many professionals. Leadership does not care and is not responding to the mass outcry with is seriously disappointing. All this after reporting in April 2022 that working from home is her to stay. Normally I try to hire in everyone I can, spreading the word that this company has something for everyone. It has been a great experience until now. If you are looking for bonuses, I would not expect much the next couple years as I expect the resource drain from this quick decision to ruin our chances to take advantage of a hugely hot market over the next two years. Before the above issue, only cons were our onboarding practices are inconsistent, we don’t target schools that have non traditional but good talent for our roles, and we seem to have a hard time supporting critical resource needs and over-supporting more stagnant markets resulting in burnout.

While we have demonstrated that we can work effectively in a remote environment, BV is moving to a new normal. The new hybrid model will continue to offer significant flexibility and choice for workers, with 40% of the work week available for professionals to work from the place of their choosing. We are looking to find the right balance of the benefits of working together, with the flexibility that comes with working remotely.
