Pros

1. Very interesting work (depending on your department). There are a lot of smart and talented people here, but that may not be the case soon (see cons). 2. You can often work in other departments for exposure to various fields. 3. They recently increased base vacation time. 4. Pay is at or above industry standard.

Cons

1. The new CEO/Management gave the infamous and dreaded announcement today: Return to Office (RTO). All employees (excluding virtual for now) must now work 3-days a week in office just because. They gave some flimsy evidence based on non-transparent data and anecdotal experiences that everyone going back to office is the way to go. I foresee them doubling back on virtual employees and forcing them to relocate in the near-future. This was a top down decision out of nowhere, despite being an "employee-owned company." 2. Truthfully, BV has been losing a lot of experienced talent lately due to better opportunities elsewhere since it's easy to hit career ceilings here, and this announcement will drive out the few remaining experienced professionals left and cause many teams to lose projects or work well over 40 hours a week. 3. Project availability has been tight over the past year. Resource managers don't do their jobs, and you're often forced to find your own tasks/projects. Charge code based company, so it can be stressful making sure you have things to work on at every minute of the day in advance since project managers may flake on you and give the work off to someone else or a project may get postponed. In either case you will have to charge to the unassigned time code if you're unfortunate enough to not find any tasks/projects which is a big no-no.

So Much for Work/Life Balance

Pros

After working here almost 20 years, I used to have a lot of positive things to say. One of the best things used to be the ability to have a good work/life balance.

Cons

The CEO just issued a mandate that all employees return to the office for at least 3 days a week after being told two years ago that we would be permanently remote. Based on that, many employees made significant life changes (selling/buying homes, selling a car, etc). Reasons cited were that employees indicated they wanted to return to the office. The few times I did go back to the office once they opened back up, I saw fewer than 10 employees the entire day. That tells me the don't really want to return to the office. They could have started doing that over a year ago if they really wanted to. Many I know have already started looking for new jobs. I will be joining them in that endeavor. I had hoped to end my career here but not at this cost. There's absolutely no reason for most of the mobile workers to commute just to go to the office and do exactly the same thing we would be doing at home.

Pros

- The people - 9/80 schedule

Cons

New information! We've all known that Mario was never planning to allow us to stay hybrid, but he confirmed it today in his townhall. "I've talked to other CEOs...we need to see if the hybrid model works, you all need to make the hybrid model work or we will go to 4 and 5 days in-office". So, we all know that magically in a few months we'll be told it "isn't working" with no supporting data other than comparing us to Google and JP Morgan, and then say it was our fault it happened. They claim we're a "top-talent desination". My question is - where?? None of the benefits are particularly exciting compared to other firms. In fact, some of the benefits are actively worse than other similar firms, INCLUDING the potential removal of a hybrid workspace. He said another unhinged thing in his meeting today, that we should "give the company AT LEAST 40 hours... I think as employee owners we should give the company MORE than 40 hours of our week" . This is a HUGE red flag. How long until they turn into a traditional design firm where you're paid for 40 hours but judged and disciplined if you don't work 50-60? They like to claim we're special because we're employee owned, but that means nothing when the employees don't get ANY input in major decisions that affect our lives.
