RIM is a company that makes cool product. The work experience looks good on one's resume. The BlackBerry is world famous and it'd be proud for everyone to be part of the excitement.

Cons

Poor personal/work balance. Poor payment. RIM's HR doesn't have enough experience to deal with the fast growth of the company. RIM is growing to be a multi-international company but people's mind isn't growing as fast - decision making is by far the most in-efficient and risk-taking is absolutely out of the question for consideration - even if very moderate risks are not allowed. Risk analysis and management is close to zero. Also RIM is one of the most political company in this industry. Dealing with too much politics is slowing people down.

Pros

high tech company, good enviroment especially if you don't work in manufacturing.You have the opportunity to follow RIM paid courses every year to improve professionally. You get your own Blackberry which is cool, and usually you get to test new models. Try to avoid the plant as is seen as a "cinderella" inside RIM and there are less opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Your work is not always appreciated by managers, personal likeliness more important then professional abilities. If you work on production line you have a weird schedule and you will work nights on regular basis wich is not healthy no matter what the management are saying.On the other hand you get a week off every month...

A great opportunity to become a part of a good upcoming company which is on track to be a heavy hitter.

Cons

This company needs to define itself internally a little better as some aspects of the management are lacking. I feel left out of the loop at times and really feel they could do better placing more scrutiny on how to get the job done right instead of get the job done at all costs.
