Value Built on Disposable Employees

Pros

Free lunch with stocked up kitchen

Cons

I worked with some of the smartest and most empathetic people here. But frequent layoffs (also during the pandemic) with no explanation proves employees are an expendable resource at Blink Health. Employees are not informed about the direction and stability of the company. CEO and the few upper management people need to have open and active lines of communication with their employees. A lack of communication has lead to feelings of alienation and distrust among the employees! Turnover is also high given the toxic culture!

Great Mission, Terrible Execution

Pros

Free food everyday Good teammates

Cons

There was extreme micromanaging during my time there. They started to hire Amazon employees mid 2019 and it changed the entire dynamic of the company, we began using Amazon terminology in meetings. The C level employees were very stand off-ish. I would avoid if possible.

Everything bad about working at a startup

Pros

Pay is competitive. Some genuinely good, smart people here.

Cons

A lot of people fall for the "dynamic startup with a cool mission" sell, but you'll quickly learn that this place is majorly messed up. Mass layoffs every few months. people get fed up and leave nearly every week. there's an overwhelming culture of negativity and resentment here. CEO and COO are unpleasant, critical, extreme micromanagers who don't know how to normally talk to their employees or people in general. Product and engineering is not diverse. It's a disorganized, chaotic, yet sterile/corporate (for a startup) environment where you're encouraged to build things quickly, not thoughtfully - who cares about the massive tech debt that keeps piling up and making your employees' lives harder if we can be the next Amazon?! There are so many talented people who worked here who had to waste their skills/autonomy to be at the beck and call of careless leadership decisions - but then they all got laid off.
