Pros

Tons of different departments to see and explore career paths. Company offers a lot of different learning and development courses throughout the year. Company has a health/wellness program to get gamers moving.

Cons

Work/life balance takes a hit depending upon the team. Platform Services department is mostly based on who you know to get advanced. Whereas hard work, contributing when asked, is not recognized. Compensation is a yearly question that appears in surveys, but never gets resolved. Throughout the year employer delivers taxable goods (i.e. - free games, books) that employee doesn't have a say whether or not they want it. This is considered a part of the employee's salary/benefits.

Pros

- Great perks: free games, game time, game codes, on-site cafeteria and gym, library, amazing people - Fun events: launch parties, big christmas party, summer company picnic, Angels games - Passionate and capable employees - Lots of training opportunities - Depending what team your on, great work/life balance and semi-flexible hours

Cons

- Boys club: the other reviews you're reading about an old boys club? It's true. One of my managers was a nightmare to work for, and despite their hostility, zero tolerance for failure, and offered no transparency to their team, has not been held accountable. Ineffective managers are more likely to have their responsibilities decreased rather than being let go. - Poor compensation: Pay bands range wildly and it's all about if you are able to negotiate. ALWAYS negotiate, and do your research. They will take advantage of your ignorance if you lowball yourself. Recruiting uses profit sharing to inflate your pay, but profit sharing varies year to year based on company performance. - Not safe to fail: generally folks are micro-managed to the point where failure isn't possible. Blue sky thinkers aren't encouraged, and to have your ideas vetted (if heard at all), is difficult. - Weak management: Managers are often not trained and are promoted to their position because that's their career track. Often lack directional guidance, and do not have your growth in mind.

Pros

- overall had great co-workers and work I enjoyed - if paired with a rare great manager that will advocate for you, compensation is fair

Cons

-projects completion trumps team health -most managers are too busy advocating for their own placement on the stacked rank review process , they don’t have the time/energy advocate for you -harassment and gender discrimination is more prevalent than people choose to admit. ( I had a harassment complaint handled so poorly by management, ER and HR that I received a settlement payout, my harasser still works for the company.) -lack of training for people conducting interviews. Witnessed senior management asking for protected information from interview candidates and then rejecting candidates based on this information ( marital status, parental status, etc.) - a strong bias against those who “ have not worked a AAA games before”, not a lot of thought given to what candidates from other industries can bring to the game and company -most promotions are given years after employee has proved themselves, frankly the best way to move up at the company is to leave for a couple of years and return.
