Pros

Remote Work Flexibility Decent Pay Benefits

Cons

- Extremely toxic tech bro culture. - Leadership lacks the experience to take the company past startup even though it's a 10k+ company - I've witnessed the most extreme cases of racism and sexism I've ever seen in my career, and that's saying a lot since I work on HR - HR leadership is incompetent and actively retaliates on people who call out areas of opportunities, mistreatment, and abuse of power.

People Ops is toxic

Pros

Great options for health insurance, nice perks

Cons

This was the most toxic work environment that myself and a few others have ever seen. Culture is nonexistent. Leadership is young, green, and poorly trained. Leadership also does not look out for their direct reports. Additionally, there is zero recognition when anyone does a great job. No one cares about each other. It’s political here and everyone looks out for themselves. Turnover rate is insanely high - in the past year, both my manager and my manager’s manager left. Though my manager was toxic so my coworkers and I filed our complaints to HR, but nothing was ever done to improve the situation. My coworkers and I often talked about how we would cry after our 1:1s because our manager was so mean. I found this company to be poorly organized. People Ops processes were a joke, and we often worked in confusion and without guidance. Leadership also didn’t care for the employee experience, as oftentimes I felt like I could do more for employee requests, but our process prevented me from doing so. Communication with partner teams was difficult and lacking. My advice: Stay away. Team meetings were the most boring that I’ve seen. No one wants to talk to each other. Management doesn’t care about how your weekend went or how you’re doing in life. Culture is so dead that it’s soul-sucking. Training is nearly nonexistent, and pieced together poorly. You want a leader who backs you up and helps you grow, but you won’t find that here. I felt I was only there to do work and put in my hours. I wasn’t allowed to take part in projects that I thought were interesting. It was an unfulfilling experience

Pros

You do get to work on a relatively modern tech stack with competent peers. You may also learn several marketable skills. Other things to point out: - Few people work late, though you are implicitly expected to be in early - Food is good

Cons

Bad managers seem to be a relatively common complaint among IC employees I talked to. I reported to a micromanager, and didn't get the impression I could do much about it without burning bridges. Jack (CEO) seems to be phoning-in anything not related to BTC. Several of the VPs are very risk averse and there is no real vision for the future other than a very vague "grow" directive. The company is complacent about its market position and I don't expect it to keep growing. Other things to point out: - Complacent business strategy leads to boring work - The SF office is very loud due to poor acoustics and tight desk layouts - WFH is generally discouraged - Stock appreciation is considered during comp review, refreshers/raises are poor in general and there will almost certainly be a big 4-year cliff now that the stock is stagnant - Useless cost-saving measures (like reduced food service) are creeping in
