      Good benefits and it's nice to have been able to work remotely

      Cons

      There are so many - leadership is really disjointed and it makes VPs and Directors afraid to make decisions. Management likes to point the finger down the chain to those who have little visibility into larger initiatives and somehow get away with it. They are also really afraid to fire anyone who really needed to be let go until the went wild with the layoffs at the end of 2023. At that point, it seemed like some of the best workers I knew were let go, and some of the worst people got to stick around. It was all very confusing to witness.

      Cons

      Jack's leadership is a double edged sword. He's a major factor in the company's success story and is also major factor in it's decline. Though there are many things to admire about his performance, it is harder to be confident in his stewardship seeing him position company to chase currency trends and seeing him place trust in individuals like Elon Musk or Robert Kennedy Jr, etc. Though he has surrounded himself with excellent leaders at Block, his growing distance from the experiences of every day people and what impacts their lives hurts the organization. What happened to Twitter and their employees is an uneasy thing to consider.

      Pros

      When I started at Block, it was a different company than it is now. There were big layoffs in early 2024 that I was part of, and the way the layoffs were done was awful. Zero human interaction, just shut down like a robot. The company as a whole has a great mission, but truly, it depends who you work with that will make or break your experience. I thankfully had a good leader and teammates, but I have heard nightmares from people who did not have the same experience.

      Cons

      The workload is too much for one person, and instead of balancing the work, they're cutting people and giving people more to do.
