Good mission, poor leadership, poor managment

Pros

My immediate team was great. The mission is compelling and the patients/volunteers make the work meaningful.

Cons

I had four bosses in 2 years. 3 were internal promotions. At no point were staff consulted about our interests, priorities, needs, advice when hiring for this job that obviously had extremely high turnover. Too many people with corporate backgrounds coming into senior leadership of this large non-profit. Fundraising campaigns are now "products" and fundraising staff are called "salespeople."

Pros

-mission oriented -great people to work with at chapter level -great place to learn a range of skills and then take elsewhere - great first job

Cons

-lack of transparency from national office, the decision makers -recent downsize in Team In Training that has not being handled well - did not have all answers to questions about the downsizing when it was rolled out, etc. -a lot of "on the job training" rather than true professional development trainings -at the chapter level, they're making the culture more fun- office ouppy visits, cereal breakfasts as a staff, yoga classes during lunch sometimes

Pros

The Mission is an amazing one and every day I feel fulfilled in my job. I love the volunteers. I love my co-workers. I have been able to make an amazing contribution over the past five years. My local office has worked with me after I had my baby and allowed me extreme flexibility and support. The people I work with are amazing (in my office).

Cons

* Very low pay for how hard we work. Pay seems to be arbitrary and based on items that I have never seen. I am looking for work now that pays a liveable wage as I have become a breadwinner for my family. I pay almost $600/month for insurance! * National Management, National Board, and new CEO are out of touch. I predicted the fall of TNT over three years ago. Yet.....no one cared about what anyone thought that wasn't in the "in" crowd. * Very reactive. Not proactive. * Locally I have amazing leadership---though we have been without an Executive Director for over 4 years and cannot get one. It's chapter suicide. * I always have the feeling that there is no communication at the top. It is very top heavy. They laid off 50 people before our fiscal year but promoted, hired, and reassigned more than 50. Why do I need 3-4 bosses? * I really wonder about the long-term health....I imagine some huge issues in the next few years...
