Pros

Ugh literally nothing except I adored my peers

Cons

I am here for the job seekers. The people...probably young women...who saw a posting for a job at BM in merchandising and thought, "omg dream job!" I am here to tell you: stay away, stay away, stay away. No amount of love for the beauty or luxury goods industries can make this place worth it. You're WAY better off just finding a job you like that pays well, then being a beauty enthusiast on your own dime. I've never seen anything like the corporate office culture at Bluemercury, specifically in merchandising (buying & planning). Just do yourself a favor and look on Linked In at how long people last at Bluemercury on those teams. Hint: it's not long. Hint: they all did basically the same jobs. The company just cycles through talent on about a 11-15 month basis. You will be desperately searching for another job if you join the team. Some free beauty product isn't worth the tears, dirty offices, nasty tone of voice, bizarre & unreasonable expectations, crazy behavior, micro-management, etc etc etc etc STAY AWAY

Pros

The people that you work with here are some of the best and brightest. I made some great friends at this company. The people that you work with there are really the only pro of the company. You get free product from time to time, but that doesn't even come close to making up for the headaches and stress that this place will put you through

Cons

Where to begin? First off, don't expect a high trajectory career path here. You are pretty much going to stay in the position you are hired to do and not get a promotion or raise, unless you are an upper management favorite. You will be expected to do the work of seven people, while only being paid pennies for it. The office is waaaay too small for the number of people that work there, and there are no plans to even expand, so if they hire more people they are going to have to start sitting on the floor. This seems like a greedy way to save money and have their employees work in ridiculous quarters just so the CEO and senior management can reach their yearly revenue goals by minimizing expenses. There isn't even a receptionist, so when a high profile person comes into the office they make another employee sit at the receptionist desk to give the appearance that this company has it all together, which is far from the case. The turn over rate is insane! With the number of people going in and out of the doors there you would think the company would do more to try and change the culture and keep people, but everyone there is just looked at as expendable. They are more confident in the fact that they know people will always apply for job there just because it is a well-known brand, but don't want to actually focus on keeping current employees. Even though the company is nearing on 20 years old you'd think it's still just a few years old and going through growing pains, which goes to show that the CEO and management don't actually want to invest in the company and make the operations more seamless and easier. This whole company is pretty much jerry-rigged together
