Pros

Luxury products and environment without the department store feel. Gratis is pretty generous and the hours for retail are more forgiving.

Cons

Communication from upper management is horrible. The pay is insulting for the vendor relationship that they have. No structure to the company, everything is trail and error.

Pros

Nice products at the store

Cons

I only worked at BM for literally 2 days and I was done. That company is a joke. Training consists of reading a giant binder. No actual product training, when I asked I was told "you can read product info on the Blue Mercury website". Sometimes the vendors of some brands come in and give you some info but that's about it. How do you expect your beauty advisors to sell the products if they have no knowledge about the products, and no one is going to do homework and not get paid for it. Everyone that worked there (including the manager) were miserable, they all hated it. The iPads for checking out customers crashed constantly, some customers walked out from frustration. Just a big hot mess!!

Pros

Gratis and working with some of the regular clients.

Cons

Company does not care about its employees. No holiday pay for employees, if you work on a holiday you get regular base pay only. If your store closes due to weather related events the company will not pay its employees even if there is a MANDANTORY evacuation in the city the store is in. Definite favoritism with upper management. You are never aware of how much PTO you actually have. They do not show it on your paychecks, the person you email to find out never knows what the correct amount is. All around disorganized. Anytime supplies were needed for the store or spa, the orders would arrive months late and the manager would have to purchase out of pocket wax, cotton pads, alcohol, etc. for the store to be able to run until the order finally arrived. Upper management cares more about vendors well being than actual employees. There is a lot of unnecessary drama that stems from associates all the way up to district managers. The “holiday parties” they have each year before Christmas save bags for clients and leave them throughout the store with credit card information on a piece of paper stapled to the bags. I think if most people realized this, they definitely would not partake.
