Pros

I've worked retail positions on and off and understand the nature of it. The difference here is that the store team I worked with really seemed like a family and we all worked for each other. I really love makeup and art so the combination was great for me as a makeup artist. I came in not knowing how to sell, just what I liked. I liked that I was trained by the brands that we sold (everything from makeup to skincare and even hair products and candles, etc.). Overall a great experience. Had to leave to move with my family.

Cons

Weekend work but that is normal with retail jobs.

Pros

Discount is not bad, free spa services, gratis and training is not bad.

Cons

First off the pay is terrible if you are a seasoned cosmetic professional, under $20/hr is a disgrace. You only make a bonus of you make your store goal and you house skin care brand goal, but they are both so high you never see that bonus. Constant focus from upper management as to what you did wrong, never on whAt is being done correctly. All the owners of the company care about is opening new stores/ going public so all the new location get the grease and the existing stores are with out supplies and stock.

Pros

My store manager was the best! She was very accommodating to everyone's schedule, you could talk to her, she was a genuine good person who wanted to see everyone do well.

Cons

Way too much pressure on the managers to make numbers which puts stress on the whole team. The incentives are not that generous and it's like pulling teeth to get positive recognition for a job well done. The company is still growing but they like to hire a lot of people from the outside and don't want to deal with transferring employees to newly opening stores - they'd rather hire a whole new team.
