Some good, some bad with BAH in greater St. Louis

Pros

You can skate by if you're in the in crowd and/or good ol' boys' network. And some people who can work the system can get time off for family issues, but for the most part, it's a 8-5 grind. They have lots of employee get-togethers, social gatherings and events. But frankly, I'd rather have more pay than have this stuff. The pay wasn't terrible. But only senior associates and above get bonuses. The 401k is less than average. You work there for over a year and then in Feb or Mar they put a few thousand dollars in one lump payment (no dollar cost averaging, etc.) - and that vests over 5 years.

Cons

If you decline health benefits (stay on your spouse's) they won't pay you a compensatory payment, as is customary at other companies. It is of great advantage to BAH to not have an employee on their health insurance, and so they should pay these employees a little bit of money for declining the insurance. I saw disinterested, detached, sometimes aloof senior management.

Knowledge sharing was the best aspect of the job

Pros

If you are a sponge for knowledge, Booz Allen Hamilton is one of the best places I have been when it comes to knowledge sharing.

Cons

If you are at the top of your game, Booz Allen is not the best place to be. You will be expected to share all that you know with little return. The associate pool can be a rough place. Your stuck between a rock and a hard place contributing to your team, client, and the bottom line.
