      Strong company, but challenging business culture

      Pros

      Stellar collection of brain power, many nationally known and recognized experts. Name brings instant credibility. The potential to make some serious money is clearly there. Promotion requirements and process are clearly laid out. Demonstrate you are performing "at the next level" and you get the promotion. Great name to have on the top of your resume.

      Cons

      Booz Allen is a Partnership firm. The business culture of partnership is VERY different than most publicly traded companies. To make it to that level, you are expected to do your current job (of course), AND to generate significant new business and revenue. If you grow your business area enough, you can make Partner and make some major money. But to do so, you really need to dedicate your life to the firm. Their internal slogan is along the lines of "the first 40 hours is for your customer". All other time is expected to grow your line of business. Otherwise, this is a good job and a good place to work, but at that point, it's no better than others.

      Pros

      The job benefits are good, and the work life balance is much more reasonable than most consultant firms. Flexibility is fairly high at Booz Allen, giving you some ability to work from home or an office closer to home, depending on who your client is.

      Cons

      There is no consistency across the firm, with different clients and managers resulting in altogether different experiences. The firm's communication does not give great clarity, and reviews lack the neutrality to give an objective review.
