Stable, consistent methods of performance, strong benefits and an opportunity to work in a global giant

Cons

Communication skills are poor amongst employees and particularly in leadership. Passive/Aggressive behavior dominates most situations. Leadership response to tough situations is to scapegoat others and shun responsibility. Consistently falsely advertise many claims to employment offers/opportunities and use the large bureaucracy to hide/not respond to issues

Relatively stable large company, without (public) shareholder pressure

Pros

Being privately held insulates the company from problems that plague many others in industries in which it competes. In this same regard, they're not particularly fond of letting people go, preferring to find a new position for them within the company if necessary. Pretty responsive to emplyee personal needs, most management is flexible.

Cons

As in many companies, decision making gets drug out too long, due in part to having "too many cooks in the kitchen". Then, to try to make up the cost, push sales way too hard. There are "yes men" around throught the entire worldwide organization.

Pros

It is always challenging to work here. There is always an opportunity to improve the workplace. If you want to move up in the company or move around there are a ton of opportunities. There are plenty of international assignments available if you want them.

Cons

There is never any communication from above. It is a very authoritarian place meaning that you are expected to do things "because we said so". Sometimes it can feel like I have 8 bosses following me around with a checklist. If we eliminated some of the checklist holders and replaced with some people to actually do the work, maybe it would get done.
