      Good for ENGINEERS but ONLY if you are WHITE!!!!

      Pros

      Some VERY smart people but NOT all. Looks good on your resume and summer sale gives great discount to employees. If you are a real Engineer at heart and a local white boy its perfect for you - there are generation of people working here, dad, son, daughter all employeed at Bose.

      Cons

      IF you are not a citizen OR don't have a green card ... THIS COMPANY IS NOT FOR YOU. HR will give you tough time and is quite dominant in Bose (your manager doesn't have much say). Plus if you are not white chances are you won't go UP much esp NOT in upper management. Minority turnover is HUGE!!!

      Pros

      People are nice and the culture has a good family style atmosphere. Headquarters is a nice building with a great view. Their Stow location is great all around building and location. Many employees work there for a long time. Some even work their way up from custodian to design engineer. I know it sounds odd, but I met the guy myself. Many interesting stories on the history of Bose abound. Dr. Bose is nice and personable and even holds talks. If you are an audio engineer you will like Bose.

      Cons

      Super heavily political; tons of nepotism; favorites; adverse to all change even if it improves profit or efficiency; low pay with little respect; unless you are in engineering development the company does not care about you at all.

      Pros

      Good brand name. Stable environment. A lot to learn if you are lucky to be in the right group.

      Cons

      Very conventional company. Compensation is not tailored for early and middle career professionals. Growth opportunities are nil. Forget about promotions, you will be stuck in your position for years, no matter what you do.
