      Talented workforce Guidant and Scimed had innovative histories Broadly based, but overly dependent on aging market segments (commodities)

      Risk adverse senior management playing only for their personal gain Don't understand current marketplace Short-term focus means survival by layoffs Ancient board needs to go

      Pros

      Good benefits, decent bonus. Some interesting work.

      Cons

      corporate has hr programs in place and try to treat employees well but enviornment varies greatly among sites based on senior management. Management does not promote teamwork and sharing ideas. It is all about what gets them further and makes them look good. There is no one really seeking to do the best thing from a business stanpoint. Lots of waste.

      Pros

      They have a matching funds 401K program. The middle management from Ireland are down to earth people, they have serious but reasonable expectations for project completions.

      Cons

      Senior management has questionable veracity; they acquire a company promise to continue operations at the US site and then shortly afterward announce that they are moving the operation to Ireland.
