Pros
The company is very employee oriented with many ways in which they can give back to the community and special causes through employee led fund raising efforts. Management supports employee giving through donation matches and employee incentives. You get the feeling that you are part of a big family working together to drive profitably, at the same time helping others. Many employees are given freedom to self manage their day to day role.
Cons
Not enough synergy between different business units and operation sites. Hesitancy to integrate Guidant into the legacy business allowed other businesses to create silos and miss opportunities to work together. The company feels like it is more a conglomerate of many businesses allowed to do their own thing sometimes missing the common goal.
