      OK place but

      Pros

      Boston Scientific has a good product and there are smart, hard working talented people there. The salaries and reasonably competitive and the benefits were good. It is easy to get to off the Mass Pike.

      Cons

      The Guidant acquisition was misguided and brought the company down. Bonuses were cut and the 2010 stock grants was an insult to people who worked very hard to try to turn the company around.

      Pros

      A great industry to be in. The understanding of how human heart works and how the implanted devices support it is truly fascinating

      Cons

      Lack of leadership vision, motivation of employees. Employees are getting used to less proficiency and less work that any normal expectations seem excessive.

      Huge company changes

      Pros

      You get to contribute directly to helping sick people and their doctors every day. There realy is a focus on the patient and the importance of what we all do to save/improve lives. Hearing from patients directly is very impressive.

      Cons

      The company is going through a very big transition - selling divisons and a major outsourcing initiative that will send hundreds of jobs to India and China. Senior management is adopting a bunker mentality - keep your head down. There are some very good senior managers if you are lucky enough to get one. The IT support is "worst in class". Out systems are way, way behind the times.
