Pros

- Friendly coworkers - Clean work environment

Cons

- Very few hours (8 hours or less per week) - Minimal recognition - No growth opportunities - Managers are very pushy in getting loyalty sign ups, resulting in making you hound people to sign up.

Pros

Great company culture with a lot of face time with higher-ups, charitable mission is a huge emphasis and the company picks multiple charities and causes per year to contribute to. Progressive company with an interest in equity and diversity. Overall a great place to work with a healthy culture, receptive to employee feedback, and has an emphasis on mental well-being. Store level satisfaction can be entirely dependent on management, but work-life balance is often a big focus for the company as well and scheduling can be very flexible depending on position.

Cons

The biggest and frankly one of the only downsides of working for the Hot Topic/BoxLunch company net is that pay is not competitive to current market rates at the store level from top down. Annual raises are typically only around 2-3%. Drastic beginning of year payroll hours cuts make it extremely difficult to support staffing a full sales team and leads to an increase in turnover of otherwise fantastic workers. Truly believe if the company worked on raising pay rates to a more competitive place that matches inflation, it would be one of the best places to work for in the retail realm.
