Pros

can sometimes talk about pop culture stuff at work, more flexible scheduling than other jobs, lgbtq+ tolerant

Cons

very low pay, phony front of being a “philanthropist” brick and mortar store when they don’t even pay associates or any position below GM anywhere near the median hourly wage for most retailers, expensive merchandise that is hard to sell, continued pressure and operation changes from corporate without adequate, realistic support for the store team, out of touch upper management & corporate, unrealistic sales expectations for teams with absolutely no benefits other than not getting chastised in a district email, embarrassing bonuses for management that are not even worth the efforts taken to get it, associates & lower management receive hardly any working hours but expect an open availability. nearly everyone who isn’t a GM has to work two jobs to even afford driving there and clocking in. toxic work environment with egos abound.

Pros

-The team I worked with was fun, and we had a good store manager -merchandise discount

Cons

-Pay was awful. Keyholders were promoted in December to “assistant manager level 1” yet I still made less that $12/hr, Also me and the other asm1 were told BY THE DISTRICT MANAGER we would get a raise after our yearly appraisals, and then the company turned back and told us we were not getting raises. Loved it. -Oh also super hated how the dm would constantly talk down to the store manager all the time.

Pros

The atmosphere is very pleasant if you're into anime, gaming and popular culture The staff is very friendly and I had no issues with any of my coworkers They are very flexible with your schedule and you don't have to work that many hours, which is great if you're still in school

Cons

Unless you're full-time, you probably won't get many hours a week so probably not the best Full-time job Minimum wage but that's to be expected
