Pros

- Flexible hours - Understanding managers (especially when it comes to mental health/chronic illness!) - Friendly and approachable managers + higher ups - Great welcome and training

Cons

- Constantly understaffed, regardless of location. I’m constantly offered to travel miles to help out the other nearby BoxLunch locations when they are understaffed for the day - Catty and clique-y coworkers - Non-negotiable pay - Hours are non-negotiable… you get what you get unless someone needs to be covered! - No feedback or criticism on work. No praise either - Lots of downtime- gets super slow frequently, have to act busy when there is absolutely nothing to do - Unorganized backrooms and shipment

Extremely High Expectations, Low Rewards

Pros

Super fun merchandise and a progressive company that cares about social issues. Cool Vibes and customers are usually nice.

Cons

Very low pay and minimum hours for associates. The customers who have a loyalty account get better discounts than the employees (but if an employee has a loyalty account it’s considered stealing). The expectations for KPIs are exceedingly high with constantly changing goal posts. You start to do well and reach your goals and they push it higher and higher and higher til it’s impossible to reach and you leave feeling discouraged and like a failure even if your store is performing the best it ever has. Then they mount on the number of metrics you must reach, many of which are out of your control. If a customer leaves a bad review about the mall (not the store) then your grade is still docked.
