Cons
Erratic management routinely mismanages operations and fumbles opportunities. To be fair, managing a diverse portfolio of businesses is fiendishly difficult. But even bright toddlers know better than to pound round pegs into square holes. In an attempt to re-imagine the company as a smaller set of core competencies, the board has jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. Many units have gone from neglect to active mismanagement.
