Not Great, Not Awful

Pros

Work culture fosters friendly coworkers Employees receive a free meal for every shift Standardized training helps employees quickly develop competency in their roles

Cons

Team members at seemingly all locations see themselves as undervalued by upper management in terms of pay as well as few to no opportunities to contribute to decision making that effects their location (this is the case for both Brassica as well as her sister company Northstar Cafe) Pay raises are few and far between

Pros

managers are both competent and caring, like i've had stressful managers but no bad managers great coworkers make every shift a memorable time inclusive culture (managers stand against racism, lgbtqia+ folks can be themselves, gender neutral bathrooms, coworkers of all ages and backgrounds) delicious food (+ free shift meals) depending on circumstances, tips can be really good same parent company as northstar, but brassica has better culture so we get a lot of ppl from there

Cons

same with retail anywhere- obviously surprises happen (you might get some rowdy customers, a machine breaks, you might get a crazy weird order), but your basic job is the same day in and day out same with retail everywhere- staff shortage, esp with covid. turnover is high lots of great managers and employees but ppl move between locations and leave altogether alot same with retail everywhere- federal holidays not guaranteed you don't get paid extra working holidays bc pay is affected by tips, ppl at different locations do not get paid the same. there's resentment from that direct managers are great but upper management can be out-of-touch
