Pros

The product is amazing. As a salesperson this lets me meet with customers in a very honest and straight forward manner. We get to be up front about what we do and how we do it. There are a lot less "games" in the sales process than I've experienced previously. Having seen and worked for competitors I feel really good about our solution. Great Teammates. The one constant across departments is that the teams are filled with smart and hard working people. Leading the market. Getting validation from Forrester etc. is great but it really feels like we are in control of our own destiny at Braze. Doing this is hard work, but it's better than the alternative! Amazing leadership. The executive team is incredibly strong. It's an incredible balance of technical and business know how.

Cons

Leading the market and growing quickly are not easy. The work is hard, but rewarding. Sometimes the work/live balance can swing out of whack, but that's a start up for you. Cross department collaboration needs to get smoother. While the teams are filled with great people we can do better to make sure we're aligned.

Pros

I have worked at Braze for quite some time now, and I have to say that it has been the most rewarding professional experience of my career. We operate in a very dynamic industry, which keeps things exciting, but also brings a new set of challenges seemingly every day. Fortunately, Braze is full of smart, hard working people who genuinely like each other, help one another, and know how to win. We have experienced tremendous growth and change in the time I have been here. New team members, new offices, new departments, new roles, new customers, new products, new name...So much change, but the company only seems to get stronger, and better over time. Having a great product certainly helps, but in my mind, it is the people and the culture that really set this place apart.

Cons

I don't have much negative to say about working at Braze. I don't really care about superficial things like fancy offices, although I hear our SF and London offices are pretty nice! There are definitely a lot of new managers across the company, which can be challenging at times, but it is clear that the company is investing in developing those managers which is really great, and speaks to the personal growth opportunities for everyone who works here.

Some growing pains but overall a good place

Pros

Smart, engaged colleagues that really care. I've personally learned a ton from many different people here. Pretty good work life balance. This has become a bit worse as the company has grown and things have become somewhat more stressful. But it's still really balanced. It's pretty rare to have to work on weekends. Most people probably average ~50 hour week. Real career growth opportunities. It's still got that startup vibe and there are more things that could use some attention than there are people. So, it's a great place to be if you want to have real responsibility and get the chance to take on big projects. Real, start-up level growth and scale. It's unusual, in my experience, to find a company of this relatively small size that has really large technological scale. That tends to mean interesting problems to work on. Also, it's pretty rare to see the kind of business growth they've seen over the last few years, which is an education in its own right.

Cons

Growing pains have been real. Some parts of the company have totally outgrown and out paced the policies necessary to keep things working smoothly. Pretty normal for a start-up though, and those problems aren't being ignored so I think it will improve. Executive team, especially the CEO, has a bit of a tendency to meddle in areas that they are no longer involved in day-to-day. Overall, I think the executive team still periodically acts like it's a smaller company than it now is. My sense is that this is getting better than it used to be though. Office location in NYC is in a crappy neighborhood, though the office itself is nice inside.

Thank you for this thoughtful feedback. We are growing fast -- that is true! We are definitely aware of the potential impact of these changes, and are hyper-focused on supporting and empowering our processes and People to be able to not only just manage the change, but to thrive!
