Toxic environment within the People team and shifting away from remote work.

Pros

The benefits are decent and unlimited PTO.

Cons

Executive leadership is smoke and mirrors. Complete lack of communication and zero transparency. You’re told one thing and the next minute the complete opposite happens.

Pros

Overall great people to work with and there once was a good office culture.

Cons

Leadership in SMB is delusional, incompetent, and erratic. Many people have been laid off for speaking the truth about obvious favoritism. Some the day they closed a 60k deal. Most managers are former enterprise reps that will lie to your face to save their face. There about 2-3 reps that “in” with leadership and get partner leads multiple times a week. Everyone else gets the scraps. Stay away.

Pros

All of the pros you get at Braze come with any startup. These include the generic catered lunches, tuition reimbursement and "flexible" time off (this was actually changed by upper management who has setup suggested timelines for your vacation).

Cons

- Lack of professional growth
 - Top down structure in the department
 - No sense of strategy behind the work that is produced
(getting a sense of company-wide OKR's is a nightmare) - Under-qualified management - my current manager is usually off flying for business trips and does very little to provide me training or feedback to help me do my job. This is unfortunately very common across the other regions as well. How am I possibly expected to grow professionally if my manager just keeps speaking about their previous experience at past companies but isn't able to prove this out in their current role?
 - A pattern of hiring "friends" and putting them in management level roles. We only seem to be able to pull in friends at this point which creates a major issue: most of the managers are not qualified for their position (again, this is global across all the offices), don't understand the product, and don't communicate well about what they need to work on . Referrals don't solidify the people were great at their jobs prior to starting to Braze, here it usually means they're under-qualified and don't know how to manage.

Braze Response

Thank you for this feedback. I am sorry that your experience with Braze has not been all that you had hoped for (and that we had hoped for). I assure you, we do take all employee feedback very seriously. We are working hard to implement the programs, policies and initiatives that make the most sense across the board to drive necessary change and improvements. (Career development, management training, monthly All Hands meetings, Cross Functional Leadership Teams, improved new hire orientation programs, etc.) We definitely have some work to do.Thank you for these insights and know that your voice has been heard! :) Thank you.
