Pros

Horizontal hierarchy. Direct access to VPs and C-Levels. Tons of opportunity to learn. Interaction with high caliber people. Very strong technical team.

Cons

The flip side of being flat is that there is not a clear division of responsibilities so lot's of gray areas between the teams. There is an expectation that you have to be aware of everything that is going on in other teams and divisions of the company. The amount of Slack channels and messages can be overwhelming.

Pros

Braze is a solid company with a clear vision and a great culture that has held through many phases of growth—a testament to the Executive team (especially our founders) leading by example from the top. It ticks all the usual boxes of decent salaries, good benefits, very smart and kind people, and many opportunities to be involved in really impactful work. Very lucky to have landed here.

Cons

Work/life balance can be very different depending on the department and the company gives a lot of autonomy and ownership - if you can set your own boundaries and be smart about priorities, its manageable. This is not a startup, and there is some tension between longer-tenured employees who are holding on to old habits and the newer joiners who have a different experience (especially through the pandemic.) Like many other tech or mid-stage companies, some pockets of management need to catch up with the company's maturity.
