Open + honest communication

Pros

Managers are committed to an open and honest style of communication that prioritizes transparency and reciprocity. I always felt like my voice should be heard and that what I had to say was equally important as what anyone else had to say.

Cons

One of the few things I didn’t like about working for Bread was how much pre-planning I needed to do in order to take any real amount of time off. I’m a very last-minute person and the flexibility just wasn’t there to allow for that.

Thanks for sharing that you found that managers valued the same things you valued -- open, honest communication even in the corporate environment. We DO care about what you have to say and ask a lot of questions in quarterly surveys to hear what our associates think! Not sure when you left but we have made Flexible Time Off easier to manage by putting it in the hands of the associate to responsibly manage their requests and to take time off when they need it (or when the workload lightens unexpectedly).

Glad to hear you love the benefits package, the flexible time off (you manage your own time-off needs), and the ability to work remotely. Many of us share those values! That's disappointing to hear that you don't have a healthy work-life harmony. We encourage you to use the resource available in Living Well -- on-demand meditation, exercise classes, monthly wellness goals, or your Spring Health mental wellness benefit.
