Pros

The mission is a great mission and helps with funding research for T1D and providing places for community of those affected by T1D.

Cons

Leadership. Openly lied to staff during beginning stages of COVID crisis by saying the organization was fine but then in April, 40% of the staff was furloughed for 3 months. And just recently (late July 2020), they laid off approximately half of the entire org's staff. Unrealistic job and department goals without providing resources to help reach goals.

Pros

Very passionate volunteers and staff. Gala/special events program is polished and well organized. Pay comparable within industry, with tons of time off. Free week of vacation between xmas and new years, 3 personal days every FY, extra time off accrual every 5 years. If you're an ED you have unlimited time off. Bonuses if chapter does well financially. I learned a lot at JDRF, and most of the colleagues are more of friends than colleagues.

Cons

Minimal career advancement of non-fundraising staff. Executive Directors can make or break a chapter. Flagrant abuse of timecards / work from home policies. Significant corporate waste (i.e. if there's money in the expense budget, we may as well spend it). National office restructures every 2-3 years. In my time, I saw 3 CEO's, 3 CFO's, 2 Chief HR's, plus countless mid-management churn. Personally had 3 direct supervisors. CRM is a mess, first heard of the project 10 years ago and it's still going on. HR Dept is good at sounding like they care, but no actions seem to happen to the staff that need the change. Interview/onboard process varies significantly chapter to chapter (you can be hired if you're friends with the ED, likewise the interview process could take several weeks if you're coming in cold). Internal communications could be vastly improved, no standardized way of disseminating info, company intranet outdated. As other reviewers mentioned, lots of telecommuters with no clear duties. No easy way to determine who does what when someone leaves (and no announcement of such). You just get the auto-responder "X is no longer at JDRF".
