Pros

amazing cause, phenomenal & smart volunteers and staff to work with-- worth every moment the time you spend trying to accomplish our mission of treating, preventing, and curing T1D!

Cons

can't seem to stick to a plan and follow it through. driving too many priorities, which impacts everything always being urgent and nothing being done right. this approach drives stronger employees to burn out or leave, which basically puts the organization back again. depending on what dept you're in, too much bureaucracy to deal with to get good work done! know of at least 2 or 3 good projects that are collecting dust because sr. execs keep shifting priorities or structure-- no one seems to know who they'll be reporting to next or even if they might be let go-- again, depends on what dept you're in.

Great cause with a few bugs

Pros

Mission is spot on and makes clear the challenges with type 1 diabetes and its complications. Currently building and revising fundraising processes with clearly established goals.

Cons

Technical infrastructure is still way behind other nonprofit organizations. CRM is convoluted and they still have 3 separate data bases to handle different aspects: 1) Walk, Ride & 3rd-party Events; 2) Gala & Golf; Blackbaud CRM. Duplications run rampant with a sketchy road map for resolving ongoing complications. Still somewhat unclear of the value of employees, who are under developed.

Nonprofit Life

Pros

The best part about working here is that everything is very mission driven and that the work you do is very meaningful compared to corporate America. Truly believe we will find a cure to type one diabetes in my lifetime.

Cons

It is a typical nonprofit environment where fundraising numbers are all that's important. Budgets are very unattainable and there is a large divide between national and chapter staff. Very difficult to advance.
