Pros

Plenty of opportunities to work closely with families in the t1d community and the scientific side of the work. Connection to mission is high.

Cons

Pretty too down from the jdrf headquarters with an increasing emphasis on certain programs being applied across the country. Sometimes means your fitting a round peg in a round hole.

Pros

Chapter staff dedicated to cause, great volunteer network, rewarding job supporting families and individuals

Cons

Management did not seem to care about chapter level concerns or for input. Unrealistic fundraising goals were constant, staff turnover high for development roles, and general low morale was apparent throughout the organization.

Pros

Great benefits. The days off are very generous. Summer Fridays were always appreciated. Hybrid options depending on time of year. The pay is usually competitive to other non profits in the area. Lots of opportunities to grow within the organization.

Cons

There is a major disconnect between National and Chapter offices with processes and decision making. On the Signature Events team, the work can be very demanding. There are many opportunities to grow only because of high turnover. Burnout is a big issue because it is an incredibly high stress job. Team culture needs major improvements and is a key reason for turnover. Responsibilities were shared, so individual project ownership was muddled and key responsibilities fell through the cracks. The company has been slowly improving DEI, but a majority of the org consists of white men in leadership positions managing teams of women.
