Great Mission, Overwhelming Restrictions and Micromanagement are Hurting the Cause
Pros
As someone living with type 1 diabetes, I deeply resonate with the mission of Breakthrough T1D and the incredible work the organization does to support people impacted by this condition.
Cons
There have been significant challenges within the organization. Technology issues and top-down decision-making have created difficulties for local chapters, often preventing us from making informed decisions that are in the best interest of our region. The micromanagement has made it increasingly difficult to do what we do best: support the T1D community. While I understand the need for guidelines, the mandates and restrictions feel excessive and are causing unnecessary frustration. There is a growing concern that as these controlling measures continue, the organization could lose talented individuals who are dedicated to the cause, which ultimately would harm the very community we are working to support.
