Pros

This is an important cause and we all feel inspired to raise money for research.

Cons

Too much emphasis on event fundraising goals for the few people who can afford to attend them and not enough on public engagement/outreach. Not enough work/life balance. Aside from the CEO, senior management is a bit out of touch.

It can be hard to get promoted because of internal politics. Having said that, there are lots of opportunities to grow.

Pros

The best part about working here is that everything is very mission driven and that the work you do is very meaningful compared to corporate America. Truly believe we will find a cure to type one diabetes in my lifetime.

Cons

It is a typical nonprofit environment where fundraising numbers are all that's important. Budgets are very unattainable and there is a large divide between national and chapter staff. Very difficult to advance.
