Pros

Good opportunities to advance - though often based on who you know rather than your capabilities. Good opportunities to travel and work events/different locations.

Cons

Very over-worked and under-appreciated. Pay increases minimal even when performing well and delivering great results. So much spent training 'mental health first aiders' yet so little mental health support. If a hospitality company cannot provide staff food on shift, they're failing as a company. So much wasteful spending on incorrect menu's & POS which then needs re-printed, products constantly being given away for free yet bars are expected to squeeze labour budgets to less than the bare minimum. Incentives offered with prizes never materialising for the winners. Very poor communication from senior leadership. Staff 'benefits' listed extensively as why they are good to work for - yet most of them are meaningless (car benefit that only the highest paid staff are able to access due to low salaries?).
