Pros

The culture is pretty good. The people are wonderful. Management is good overall. If you want a challenge, the work is challenging due to the spin-off.

Cons

They don’t look out for their long term employees. They’ll hire new people in at the top of the pay scales while long term employees barely get a decent merit increase. It’s really in flux right now, so be prepared for chaos. Long term, I’m sure that will be fixed.

Pros

They paid a fair salary for the most part. Some positions are paid well while others are incredibly underpaid based on averages of the same jobs.

Cons

I felt that the people on the sales desk were snakes and would be fake nice to your face but quick to stab you in the back given their first opportunity.

Exciting Opportunity

Pros

It is not often that you get a chance to be part of a well funded start up that has the foundational strength of a well known organization like MetLife. It is exciting to be able to contribute to building something new, your voice is heard, you are encouraged to share your ideas, you get a fair amount of exposure to senior leadership because the organization is smaller and a lot of people are new so there is a lot of energy in the building. The company has a 6% 401K match that you are eligible for immediately and they offer a 3% profit sharing bonus each year to every employee. The medical benefits are pretty good, they also pay for short term disability and life insurance. My group is very team oriented, there are always team events and we get together regularly. We have an open and transparent dialogue about the things we are building and everyone has a chance to work on a variety of different projects. I feel valued, respected and I know my senior leader has my best interest in mind. We get to wear jeans every day which is uncommon in a lot of financial services organizations. The company encourages everyone to give real time, honest feedback so you don't have to wait until your quarterly review to understand how you are performing. They are also upgrading all of their technology so the company is more current, we are moving everything to the cloud so we have access to what we need to operate the company from anywhere, the MetLife systems were outdated.

Cons

We are pulling apart two very large organizations and that means change, some people are better than others at adapting to change, but we will be better for it long term. It is a startup environment which is not for everyone, but it is a really fun time to be part of the company.
