Plagued by poor leadership, nepotism, and a rotating door

Pros

Remote work, "unlimited" vacation, fairly decent pay, friendly low-level staff.

Cons

Nepotism - everywhere... regardless of expertise. Terrible and confusing leadership. I don't recall ever having solid goals - they changed week in and week out. You don't dare speak up, or challenge upper management (especially when you're in the right). They will turn their backs on you, no matter how hard you work or how patient you are. The company spends way too much money on lavish parties, but struggles to maintain payroll. All in all, the place is a recipe for disaster. They don't care about their employees, and will turn their backs on you. Take your talent elsewhere; it's not worth the insults, terrible leadership, or stress of being constantly confused about priorities/objectives.

Pros

There is some remote work and flexibility in the job

Cons

Where do I even start? This company is very badly ran and the end product is absolutely atrocious. There was so much chaos, communication between teams and within your own teams is horrible. I mean, we're a remote company and all but they really need to find a better way to streamline the communication because it makes everybody's lives a living hell. The software product is God awful! So many bugs and defects! They don't fix the root issues and just keep putting bandaids on the problems, which become problems which become problems. It creates A LOT of unnecessary work for everyone. I foresee other up and coming competing startups outpacing BriteCore, especially with the use of AI and Blockchain. The salary is also very, very low for all positions.

Good People, Mediocre Company

Pros

- Most people are respectful and supportive. - Executive leadership has vision and communicates well. - Trust and honesty are the standard. - Unlimited time off; really no questions asked if you are productive. - Growing in a stable industry. - Work from anywhere in the world.

Cons

- Messy legacy codebase resulting from many years of racing to satisfy clients without much thought given to architecture, including wildly divergent branches deployed in different places. It's not uncommon to encounter something in the codebase that no current employee knows how to explain. I've worked at BriteCore for four months and have done nothing but solve bugs. - Product management has no idea what they are doing; rather than understand the client's needs, BriteCore does what the client asks for. PMs generally have no technical background nor interest in system design. - Onboarding is dull and insufficient. - Disorganized and bureaucratic operations. - Disastrous waterfall implementation of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
