Pros

There are no pros from my standpoint with this company

Cons

I started working here under the seasonal racker/blender position to bring in money for my family while in the D.E.P (Delayed Entry Program) for the United States Navy, as required by my D.E.P I was to inform my employer of my status and needing 2 days off a month with 2-3 week notice for my obligations with the Navy. After not being after to see the cellar master for a week due to all sorts of run-around reasons I finally get an audience and explain my situation and immediately see a pull-back as if I'm no longer worth investing in, this reaction was the same from my foreman up to the cellar master. A few shifts later I show up to work and my badge no longer works, no communication from ANYBODY to explain why, I call and leave a message or 3 to the HR representative and hear nothing back for 2 days, then I receive a call saying my check is ready to be picked up at the guard shack - still with no information as to what happened. I pick up my check which came in a little envelope from the guard really fast who had nothing to say to me, read the letter of termination which still has zero reason on it so I proceed to get in touch with HR once more, this time they tell me I was terminated due to not showing up, obviously not the reason so I explain my situation to the representative who has no answers for me and proceeds to get her supervisor. The supervisor now gives me a different reason : attendance, once again not the scenario and as I am explaining to her my side and trying to understand why all of a sudden I get this treatment she proceeds to hang up on me mid-sentence, I call back to immediate voicemail after 2 or so rings repeatedly. Assuming she is clearly avoiding conversation with me I leave a message for somebody else to get back to me and after another conversation I get told yet a different reason for my termination was my performance now without any sort of coaching or any issues in the 5-6 days I had been working there now I have been terminated for performance. All and all the company is incredibly shady and can't seem to get it's reasons straight for firing somebody who needs time off due to their obligations to the military and I would most definitely not recommend this company as it is not going to be worth your time or effort.

Pros

Hard working, loyal folks who get a lot done. Flat organizational structure helps to make things happen at a much faster place than other wineries where I have worked. Access to ownership and management is open.

Cons

Crush is a busy time so if you like your summer's off, don't work for an agriculturally-based firm.
