Pros

Bronxworks is involved in worthwhile, impactful projects.

Cons

The low $30,000 range is not enough to pay rent and survive in New York City, let alone live comfortably.

Pros

-->Well funded agency with consistent funding -->Because of this, agency offers great benefits, higher than average pay and can hire better employees and supervisors -->Keeps contracts consistent with funders (no major changes in funding patterns and thus, layoffs or budget cuts) -->Lots of opportunities for trainings -->Full HR staff who answer questions and provide appropriate orientation, training and exit interview opportunities -->Agency does take employee feedback into account if it is presented professionally and diplomatically -->Agency has decent organizational culture; hosts family picnics, sports games, charity days and all-staff meetings to bring employees together -->Generous vacation and sick time; flexible hours depending on the program -->Large agency with power in the Bronx; 600 employees, 28 offices; well-known, has a decent reputation; lots of connections; well-received by other agencies -->lots of opportunities to move up IF you get an advanced degree

Cons

-->Major beaurocracy at the agency -->Crazy senior staff members; unprofessional; disconnected from clients -->Upper management did not take many staff members considerations into account -->High staff turnover; sometimes turnover was not addressed; became awkward -->Pushed out staff members -->At times, did not feel appreciated -->If you don't fit into the organizational culture, you could get pushed out
