Good flexibility in work schedule. Primary investigators are understanding of personal situations. Topics are engaging and fun.

Cons

Pay is not as high as it should be. Funding for lab research is not sufficient. Often times, most of the time is pent on grant proposals.

Pros

Salary increases thanks to the union. But I was told that I didn't deserve them.

Cons

I don't know about the other departments, but my experience in The Division of General Internal Medicine was absolutely horrible. Not long after I started, I was treated terribly and I was there for over eight years. The office was very clicky. The main doctor for whom I worked acted as if she regretted hiring me. Every time she saw me, she treated me with complete disdain. I finally asked her about it one time to which she replied, "Let's not get personal."
