Lack of leadership and processes = toxic circus

Pros

Some lovely people across the university. Nice setting in the suburbs. Benefits are good. Higher Ed can be fun because of the youthful energy.

Cons

The most toxic place I have ever worked, by far. My teammates and I say it’s The Hunger Games. Leaders who lie. Lack of transparency. No processes, systems, or onboarding. Under qualified “yes” people failing up. Internal competitiveness and territorial attitudes among top admin and faculty and across departments. A boys club, so not a safe place if you’re a strong woman. There were red flags at my interview but I overlooked them because I needed a job. Never again will I ignore my gut.

Inept and unethical administration

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Most students appreciate the opportunity they are experiencing

Cons

The Administration of this institution from the President to the Deans is inept and arrogant about it. Prima donna tenured faculty. Unethical HR. Nothing human or resourceful about them. You can survive is you avoid or ignore the administration and do not dissent. The former President thought he was the POTUS. The former Provost was just there as a steppingstone to his new job at Nichols. He is the second one to do so.

The most arrogant administration

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Most students are engaged in their learning but also in too many extracurricular activities.

Cons

Academic Affairs leadership is incompetent and arrogant about being so. Non-tenured faculty are treated like second class citizens in a caste system. Human Resources is complicit in the mistreatment and inequitable treatment of long service employees.
