The role requires less work sometimes and a lot of work sometimes, so as a student you can work on your class stuff while at the job

Punctuality is important, being even a minute late is a problem.

Pros

Some lovely people across the university. Nice setting in the suburbs. Benefits are good. Higher Ed can be fun because of the youthful energy.

Cons

The most toxic place I have ever worked, by far. My teammates and I say it’s The Hunger Games. Leaders who lie. Lack of transparency. No processes, systems, or onboarding. Under qualified “yes” people failing up. Internal competitiveness and territorial attitudes among top admin and faculty and across departments. A boys club, so not a safe place if you’re a strong woman. There were red flags at my interview but I overlooked them because I needed a job. Never again will I ignore my gut.
